Myanmar faces deeply rooted humanitarian challenges with 1 million people in urgent need of life-saving aid and protection support. Armed conflict, natural disasters, intercommunal violence and the impact of COVID-19 continue to drive humanitarian needs in Myanmar. Some 336,000 people have been displaced across the country. Some 250,000 of them are in situations of protracted displacement. A 22-year-old woman, Masha Amini, was killed by morality police in Iran. In mid-September 2022, a 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish woman named Masha Amini was arrested by the morality police — because she was not wearing a hijab — while visiting Iran’s capital Tehran with her family, as reported by The New York Times. The morality police detailed Amini, and while in their custody, authorities confirmed that she died, attributing her sudden death to a heart attack. However, CT scans of Amini’s body proved that she experienced a brain hemorrhage; eyewitness accounts, as well as footage and images of Amini after she was arrested, have led many to speculate that Iran’s morality police physically beat her. At the same time, she was detained, causing her to die. We have created this fund to fight the “relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny” and advocate the right for women to choose what they wear — essentially protesting the hijab laws. The fund will support the committee’s efforts to help achieve equal rights for Iranian women. The fund will buy billboards, ads, and other large-scale visibility options in major cities. I recently attended a back to school STEAM night with my son. As we were leaving I ventured with him down to the library and saw many kids laughing and having an unreal time with this thing that was moving around the room. Actually two older kids were using a remote control joy stick to control the "Robot". It was hysterical to see the kids laughing and trying to feed the robot kick balls and the robot would then throw them back for the kids to catch. My son had so much fun and can't wait to get more involved and see the "Robot" again. From the Robotics Team 514 website: Through the FIRST Robotics program at Miller Place High School, students are exposed to creative and innovative opportunities to foster their learning and growth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These experiences are important lessons for their education and will help cultivate stronger leaders for tomorrow and for the world’s future workforce.

On Monday 6th February, two devastating 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes struck in Türkiye and Syria. As of 1 March 2023, more than 51,800 deaths have been confirmed.
