As most of our countries are facing unprecedented challenges due to the arise of the COVID-19 pandemic, the stress on government agencies has been leveled extreme. The economic impact of COVID-19 on countries is disastrous, aggravating the situation of many in need. In Jordan, for instance, the nation-wide lock down over the past few weeks has substantially affected people with low income; specifically, the impact on those who work on a daily basis income has been marked substantial as they are unable to attend to their duties nor get the appropriate nutrition for survival. Through the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, our initiative is to support concern hospitals in Jordan with the COVID health requirement during these difficult times.

Cancer is increasingly a global health issue. The World Health Organization (WHO) projects that, by 2035, the world could see 24 million new cancer cases and 14.5 million cancer-related deaths a year. This increase will constitute a challenging burden on healthcare systems in countries with limited resources like Jordan and many other neighboring countries. In Jordan, more than 5000 new cases are diagnosed on yearly basis. The general belief in Jordan is that there is no family who hasn’t suffered from this devious disease!
